We were leaders then and we continue to be the leaders now. Following with continued education, providing strong, progressive, and individualized programs have always been our goals at Phelps & Associates Physical Therapy. We have been successfully rehabilitating patients since 1981.Craig and his colleagues continue to exchange ideas and treatment programs for all of our patients. Our patients are not only treated by individualized therapist, but also have the benefit of the collaborative efforts between Phelps and his associates.
Phelps and Associates Physical Therapy was founded in 1981 by Craig Phelps, Physical Therapist. His practice was one of the first evidenced based Orthopedic & Sports Physical Therapy offices in Salinas. At that time, the name of the practice was Maple Street Orthopedic & Sports Physical Therapy. Craig Phelps founded one of the first sports therapy programs in Salinas. The physical therapy practice grew in popularity. Since this time, Maple Street Physical Therapy has had many names on its way to its most recent name, Phelps & Associates Physical Therapy.
Mr. Phelps is committed to continuing his training and has taken classes with some of the great founders of rehabilitation. He has committed hundreds of hours furthering his education, following the most current evidence-based information in order to develop the therapy practice over the past thirty years.
Craig was born in southern California and moved to Hawaii at the age of four. He was raised in Hawaii until high school and then moved to Oregon. He was involved in pop warner sports programs for football and baseball. In high school and college he participated in sports including swimming, basketball, and track. Craig graduated from Pacific University in Oregon with honors, undergrad in chemistry and a Physical Therapy degree.
Craig’s special interests are sports related injuries and orthopedics. His strengths are the shoulder complex, knees, and spine rehabilitation. Craig likes to swim, hike, and travel.
Jessica was born and raised in northern California. Her interest in physical therapy began in high school as her teammates in softball and basketball were undergoing physical therapy treatment after various surgeries. Her desire to learn how the body functions and heals kept her on the pathway to becoming a physical therapist.
She graduated from California State University, Chico with a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Physiology and a minor in Nutrition. She continued her education at University of the Pacific, Stockton where she earned a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree.
Jessica has special interests in orthopedics, post operative rehabilitation, and sports injuries. She regularly attends continuing education classes in order to stay current with evidence-based practice giving her patients the best possible outcome. She is very active away from the clinic and with running, bicycling, hiking, and traveling.
